My family always wanted a sporty EV so we decided to try signing up for reservations, we are currently 8345 out of 9500 lol. We were asked to pay $88 to join the membership so that we could reserve one. Let’s see how this turns out.

That's a long way to go but with the Alpha5 I would say that it is worth the wait. It even has the advantage of being so far back in line. God forbid there are malfunctions or any defects with the first batch you'll be informed about it and you could get the new and improved batch with lesser to no problems at all because it has already been resolved after the first batch.
